Snowshill Manor and Garden

A beautiful, Cotswold stone Manor House, near Broadway, nestling on the side of a hill.

The views are spectacular.

Charles Wade was a treasure-seeker who spent his inherited wealth amassing a huge range of objects which are on display in the house. The collection is so extensive that he and his wife lived in a small annexe, the Priest's House, so that the House could be given over to displaying all that he had collected.

The Priest's House.

But, as usual, it is the garden that interests me

Set on the hillside, it consists of a series of 'rooms'

The pond

in the middle of the pond, a little 'house' with straw in it

and with its own model Cornish village

This was my favourite spot, I liked the topiary around the bench as well as the topiary in front

and a closer look

a fountain

the 'shed'  and a second pond in front of it

hyacinth time

and a closer look at that vibrant blue.

  1. Good to see what a duck house looks like after all that publicity they got at the time of MPs' expenses scandal.

  2. Very modest, this one, though!
